It works on your glutamate system, can produce measurable effects within 24 hours, and is taken in-clinic with two hours of monitoring afterward. You'll be asked to arrange a ride home, and be able to drive again the next day.
Keta is the original molecule from which SPV is derived, administered via IV. It is delivered as a 40-minute intravenous infusion in the clinic, and you can go home the same day. Used off-label for treatment-resistant depression, it acts on the glutamate pathway. A typical induction series is six infusions over 2-3 weeks. Because it is off-label, insurance coverage varies.
Most major commercial plans and Medicare cover SPV, and it can also be possible to access IV Keta with insurance with prior authorization. Psycle Health and the partner clinic handle the paperwork for whichever path you and your psychiatrist choose, at no cost.
